Travel Grant Opportunities

Bruno Martinelli Travel Grants

The Martinelli Travel Grant was established in 2003 to support researchers and graduate students from Latin American and Caribbean countries who participate in volcano research or monitoring. These grants make it possible for one or more recipients to participate in an international conference or workshop.

Travel Grants for Students and Young Scientists

AGU has obtained a grant from the National Science Foundation to assist the travel of students and young scientists from the United States to the following International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) meetings.

Joint Assembly/Fall Meeting Student Travel Grants

Limited number of grants for partial funding for students who are first authors and presenters of a poster or oral presentation. Support is primarily provided by donation from AGU members.

Accepting applications for Fall Meeting student travel grants until 10 September 2008.

Ocean Sciences Meeting Student Travel Grants

Limited number of grants for partial funding for students who are first authors and presenters of a poster or oral presentation.

Berkner Travel Fellowships

Limited number of full-support grants for students and young scientists (under the age of 36), who are permanent residents of countries designated by the World Bank as low income or lower middle income. Support is provided by the Berkner Fund, a memorial to former AGU President Lloyd V. Berkner.

Riecker Travel Grants

Limited number of travel grants for students to attend selected Chapman Conferences or topical meetings. Funds provided by a bequest from Robert E. Riecker, a long-time AGU member and supporter.

Other Travel Grants

Partial support available to students or young scientists because of grants provided to AGU by the National Science Foundation or other funding agencies.
