Storytelling helps showcase the many ways that Earth science impacts societies and improves decisionmaking in myriad sectors and communities. Multimedia-rich stories, interactive websites, film, podcasts and social media deliver tailored stories that make Earth observations and data relatable to new, broad audiences, and potentially inspire new users. These stories blend the human experience with technical explanations and have the unique ability to spark interest and emotion among diverse audiences, including those that might not otherwise have been exposed to science content. This session explores creative approaches, as well as the associated challenges, of developing outreach projects to share the value and relevance of Earth observations through a range of multi-channels media, engaging communications techniques, and content. Scientists, students, communication specialists, filmmakers, and those interested in science communication address storytelling and the content development process that tailors or translates Earth science concepts, systems, and projects to a broad range of audiences.
