Today’s rapid progress in Cryospheric science owes much to the hard work and inspiration of researchers and explorers over the past century. Building on their legacy and foundation, our modern perspectives and efforts to investigate interwoven climate, ocean, snow, ice, and permafrost systems rely on international collaborations, integrative observation campaigns, and advanced modelling efforts assimilating diverse data sources.

This concluding session of the AGU Centennial Celebration connects our Cryospheric research legacy to current questions and future challenges.  What are our new and evolving Grand Challenges? How do our previous advances and discoveries prepare us to address the scientific controversies of the next century? How can we apply our lessons from past experience to forge the next generation of scientific contributions? What untapped data can provide context for new inquiries? What new measurements are required? This session will combine invited contributions and a panel discussion featuring established and early career researchers.
