From diamond anvil cells to shock compression, the experimental high pressure/temperature frontier allows for unprecedented experimental access to the conditions relevant to planetary interiors. In this tutorial, we will discuss some of the advantages, challenges, and future prospects of dynamic compression experiments for mineral physics.
