The Ocean Sciences Meeting will be held 22-27 February 2026.

Almost 6,000 attendees gathered for the 2024 Ocean Sciences Meeting. We expect similar attendance in 2026.

No, all members of the ocean sciences community are welcome to attend.

Session and Town Hall Proposals

The session and town hall proposal portal will open in early April and close on 28 May 2025 (23:59 EDT/03:59 UTC).

  • All session moderators and all presenters must pay a registration fee if they are attending and/or presenting at OSM26.
  • Chairs listed on a proposal do not need to register for OSM26 if they will not attend the meeting.

Membership is encouraged but is not a requirement; however, you will be asked if you are a member of one or more of these societies.

  • There is no fee to submit a session or town hall proposal. However, if accepted, town hall organizers will be billed a technology/labor charge.
  • All first authors who submit an abstract to a session are subject to the abstract submission fee. Presenting authors and session moderators must pay the meeting registration fee.

Session formats will include oral, eLightning, and posters. View more information on session formats.

When proposing a session, chairs can request to have only a poster session. It is not possible to request an oral session. Session format assignments will be allocated by the program committee after abstract submissions close.

Abstracts

The abstract submission portal will be open from early July to 20 August 2025 (23:59 EDT/03:59 UTC).

Detailed abstract policies and requirements will be available in early July.

No, membership is not a requirement, but it is encouraged.

Yes. Authors will select either in-person or online as their presentation location during the abstract submission process.

Yes. The abstract submission fee is a required and non-refundable processing fee, separate from meeting registration fees, and is not based on approval of your abstract submission or attendance at the meeting. The abstract submission fees are:

  • A first author can submit one abstract to any topic area.
  • A first author can submit one additional abstract to sessions in the Education, Public Engagement, and Arts topic area. If submitting a second abstract, you must also pay the abstract submission fee for the second abstract.
  • There are no invited abstracts.
  • Authors are notified of the acceptance, format, and schedule of their abstracts in mid-October.
  • Messages regarding the OSM scientific program are sent via [email protected]. Please check your junk or spam filter. Note: this email address is not monitored.
  • The presenting author must register for and attend OSM26, either in person or virtually.
  • The registration fee is separate from the abstract submission fee.
