Each summer, members of Congress travel back to their home districts for what is known as “August recess,” a district work period where the policymakers meet with and learn about the priorities and concerns of their constituents. This is an opportune time for scientists to reach out and talk with their federal policymakers close to home to advocate for issues of importance to the scientific community.
