Register & Attend

To ensure our meetings are available to the widest range of participants across the globe, the AGU23 meeting will be held in a hybrid model aimed to capitalize on both in person and virtual participation. We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco or line everywhere.

Registration

Registration will open on 22 August 2023. At that time you will be able to register for the meeting and reserve housing, if you plan to attend in person. All attendees must create and AGU account to access the registration and housing site. 

Important Reminders

  • Attendees are encouraged to register for the meeting by 3 November (16:00 EDT) to take advantage of the early bird registration rates offered. 
  • All attendees, including presenters and conveners, must register for AGU23 to participate in the meeting. 
  • Join AGU or renew your membership by 2 November (23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT) to take advantage of early bird member rates. 
  • Review the registration policies prior to registering for the meeting.

All registration fees must be paid in full before receiving credentials to access the meeting in person or online.

AGU accepts payment via credit card, check, or wire transfer. Check and wire transfers must be received by 30 November 2023. When making a payment, please include the name and registration number of the registrant.

Cancellations

  • Written notifications must be emailed to the AGU Registration Center. Registration cancellation received by 8 November 2023 will receive complete refund.
  • Cancellations received after 8 November will have a $50 USD processing fee deducted from their refund. No refunds will be issued for cancelled registrations or ticketed events after 16 November 2023.

Indigenous Community & Community Leaders

Members of Indigenous Communities

We are pleased to announce that AGU will offer no-cost registration to 100 AGU members who are members of an Indigenous Community anywhere in the world. Applications opened in June and closed 19 July 2023. Each application was reviewed, and notifications were sent via email within 72 hours of the application being received.

Community Leaders

We are pleased to announce that AGU will also offer 100 no-cost registrations to community leaders who would like to participate in AGU23 in San Francisco or online. Applications opened in June and closed 19 July 2023. Each application was reviewed, and notifications were sent via email within 72 hours of the application being received.

Community leaders are trusted representatives of a community, including elected and unelected leaders. A community leader should be understood as someone who is an active member of a community, and not someone who only studies a community.

One-Day Registration

One-Day In-Person

AGU will offer a one-day registration rate of $360 to both members and non-members looking to attend the meeting for one day in-person. One-Day in person participants will have full access to the meeting, however, they will not be able to access the online meeting platform. 

One-Day Virtual Presenter

New this Year! AGU will offer a one-day registration rate of $360 to both members and non-members looking to present their abstract virtually either during AGU23 or in late January. This registration type includes:

  • Access to present virtually (poster or oral). 
  • Limited access to AGU23 online meeting platform and mobile app to present in your session.
  • Access to the online poster gallery.
  • Access to a full list of exhibitors.
  • Access to attend the Online Poster Discussion sessions in January 2024. 

Reduced Cost Registration

Individuals who currently reside in developing countries are eligible to attend at no cost. These countries are defined by the World Bank as low income (Tier 1) and lower-middle income (Tier 2). If you reside in one of these countries, please use the registration portal to take advantage of the no-cost registration.

High and Middle School students are eligible to receive no cost registration. Students will be required to upload at least one type of accepted credentials in the registration portal that verifies their current enrollment in a K-12 school. Anyone under the age of 18 will also be required to upload a child waiver form signed by their parent or legal guardian. All uploaded documents will be reviewed by AGU staff. Once reviewed you will receive confirmation via email that your registration has been approved or denied. See below for types of accepted credentials. 

  • Student picture ID card with current school year listed. 
  • A letter from a teacher, den, or principal dated within 30 days that denotes current enrollment in a K-12 school.
  • A transcript or report card that lists currently enrolled classes.

Undergraduate students planning to attend AGU23 virtually are eligible to attend at no cost. To redeem this no cost registration, please proceed to the registration portal to complete your registration. You will be required to upload student credentials that verify current enrollment in college. 

AGU will offer reduced registration to K-12 teachers/informal educators. These persons are required to upload at least one type of accepted credentials in the registration portal that verifies their current employment status as a K-12 educator or informal educator to receive reduced registration. AGU defines an informal educator as someone who is not associated with a school but is instead associated with a scientific museum, center or planetarium whose job duties involve creating educational materials for students. The uploaded credentials will be reviewed by AGU Staff. Once reviewed, you will receive confirmation via email that your registration has been approved or denied. See below for types of accepted credentials. 

  • Confirmation of employment on school/institution letterhead from the principal, administrator, or direct supervisor. 
  • Scanned copy of teacher identification card with expiration date or current school year clearly noted.
AGU members teaching at or attending Tribal and Territorial Colleges and Universities in North America are also eligible for free registration. Credentials verifying enrollment or employment will be required during registration. 
New this year! Local undergraduate students within a 50-mile radius of the Moscone Convention Center can register for the meeting at a reduced cost of $100. You will be required to upload student credentials that verify current enrollment. Please use the registration portal to take advantage of the reduced cost registration. 

New this year! AGU will offer a reduced registration fee of $365 to both members and nonmembers who currently reside in Turkey. Please use the registration portal to take advantage of the reduced cost registration.
