A complete nomination package consists of the following items merged into one PDF file:
A nomination letter that states how the nominee meets the selection criteria, including details about significant contributions to paleoceanography and paleoclimatology research, education, or outreach activities for the benefit of science, colleagues, and society at large. The letter should contain the nominator’s name, title, signature, institution and contact information and a one-sentence citation at the beginning of the letter. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
At least one, but no more than three letters of support not including the nomination letter, including the supporter’s signature, name, title, institution, and contact information. Letterhead is preferred. Letters from individuals not currently or recently associated with the candidate’s institution of graduate education or employment are encouraged.
At least one, but no more than three copies of the Nominee's published or pre-published manuscripts.
2024 Review Timeline
- 17 January: Nomination period Opens
- 27 March: Nomination period Closes
- 22 April - 3 June: Selection committees review nominations
- 10 June: Section Award selection committees' recommendation reports are due
- 10 - 17 June: Section Presidents reviewing Section Award Committee recommendation reports
- 21 June: Deadline for Section Presidents to approve recommendations for the 2024 Section Award recipients
- TBD September: 2024 Section Awards recipients announced
