Recognizing Early Career Scientists
The Takesi Nagata Early Career Award is presented annually to an early career scientist who has excelled in research and service to the fields of geomagnetism, paleomagnetism, and electromagnetism. Successful nominees are no more than ten years past the completion of their Ph.D. or highest terminal degree by the beginning of the year in which the award is presented.

- Recognition at AGU's annual meeting during the award presentation year
- Complimentary registration for AGU's annual meeting during the award presentation year
- Invitation to the GPE Reception and Section Gathering
Successful Nomination Criteria
Excellence can be evaluated through scientific rigor, originality, and impact; leadership and service to the geomagnetism, paleomagnetism, and electromagnetism research
community; or development of new cross-disciplinary research areas and methods.
Eligibility
Nominee
The nominee must be:
- an active AGU member
- an early-career scientist no more than ten years past completion of their Ph.D. or highest terminal degree by the start of the year in which the award will be presented
Nominators
Nominators must be active AGU members.
