Most sessions will be recorded and available for on-demand viewing by registered attendees; the recordings will be posted about 72 hours after the scheduled session and will be available through February 2023.

Keynotes & Plenaries

These featured sessions cover a diverse range of Earth and space science as well as overarching societal topics. World-renowned scientists and leaders will weave the theme "Science Leads the Future" into their remarks.

Note: Keynotes and plenaries will be live-streamed and available for on-demand viewing.

Named Lectures

These award lectures are curated by AGU sections to recognize distinguished scientists with proven leadership and discoveries in their fields of science. They showcase the breadth and depth of discovery and solution science spearheaded by AGU members.

  • Award lectures will be livestreamed and available for on-demand viewing.
  • Presenters and attendees can participate and ask questions in-person or online.

Union Session

These 90-minute sessions cover topics of broad interest that resonate with the entire Earth and space science community and include a mix of:

IN-PERSON POSTER SESSIONS

  • Presenters will receive a board for their physical poster in the poster hall.
  • There is no online requirement for in-person presenters, but authors are encouraged to submit their posters electronically through the platform iPosterSessions, so their presentation is available in the online poster library and so they can engage with online attendees.

ONLINE POSTER DISCUSSION SESSIONS

  • The first 60 minutes prior to each 4 hour poster session block will be dedicated to online poster visits and online-only poster sessions, with no competing scientific programming.
  • Online-only poster discussion sessions will be livestreamed.
  • Presenters will submit their presentations electronically through the platform iPosterSessions for inclusion in the online poster library and can engage with both in-person and online attendees during the meeting week using text chat features.
  • Presenters will give a brief presentation (up to 10 minutes) while displaying their iPoster or PDF poster, followed by a moderated discussion.
  • AGU also will offer monitors and/or viewing areas throughout the poster hall in Chicago to enable in-person attendees to view and engage with the online posters and presenters.

These sessions are free from the format constraints of traditional scientific sessions. The transdisciplinary-focused workshops range from half- to full-day sessions and provide a way to share knowledge and skills while promoting discussion and interaction.

  • Workshops may include a mix of in-person and online presentations.
  • Separate registration is required and select online workshops will be held the week prior to AGU22.
