The Geomagnetism, Paleomagnetism, and Electromagnetism (GPE) section at AGU studies the ancient and current magnetic field, from Earth’s core to other planets and to outer space, as well as the electrical currents induced in the Earth’s crust and mantle and the mineral magnetism of geological and extraterrestrial materials, to gain an understanding of Earth’s structure, dynamics, and history and its relationship to other planets.
