Recognizing Contributions to Earth and Space Science Education and Public Outreach
This award is named for Dorothy LaLonde Stout to recognize her extraordinary life-long contributions to Earth science education. Dorothy LaLonde Stout was a dedicated parent, revered educator, exemplary leader, and respected scientist, and her contributions to the geoscience education community were wide and varied. The Dorothy Stout Lecture recognizes significant contributions in Earth and space science education and public outreach.
The lecture is presented annually and recognizes an individual or team who has made outstanding contributions in the area of Earth and/or space sciences PreK - 16+ education and/or public outreach.

About The Education Section
The Education Section was established to provide a transdisciplinary home and voice for educators and education researchers, enhancing connectivity across all of the Earth and space sciences by providing educational expertise, scholarship, and partnership development with other organizations and the public. It catalyzes and shapes Earth and space science education activities to develop a diverse Earth and space science talent pool, improve global scientific literacy, and increase access to scholarship and collaboration in Earth and space education research and practice.
