Registration Frequently Asked Questions

The online registration tool is open.

Your registration fee includes access to oral sessions with discussions, electronic posters, eLightning presentations, exhibit hall, keynote and innovative plenaries, informal networking, education and career development opportunities as well as meetings within meetings.

All attendees, including presenters and conveners, must register for Fall Meeting to gain access to #AGU21.

Tickets are available for purchase in the online registration portal. The deadline to purchase tickets to ticketed events is 1 December. Tickets will not be sold onsite.

Registered attendees may purchase guest passes at $160 USD each. A guest is a spouse, friend, or adult child (18 years and older) who is not working in an Earth and space science-related occupation or field. A colleague or associate working in a related scientific field or studying Earth and space science in school may not be registered and attend as a guest. Registered guests may not attend the oral or poster scientific sessions; however, they may visit the Exhibit Hall, and attend the Ice Breaker, Honors Ceremony, and all keynote lectures.

As a reminder, only fully vaccinated people may #AGU21 in-person in New Orleans. If you are not fully vaccinated (two weeks after the last required shot), please plan to attend online.

Individuals who currently reside in developing countries are eligible to attend at no cost. These countries are defined by the World Bank as low income and lower-middle income.

Reduced registration rates are extended to all AGU members who register for the meeting prior to the early bird deadline of 3 November 2021. Payment must be received by the noted deadline to receive the early bird rate.

The early bird rates will be extended throughout the Fall Meeting for U.S. federal government employees ONLY. Valid credentials will be required.

If you are not able to attend and do not want to withdraw your presentation, please encourage a co-author to present on your behalf. Presenter changes can be submitted to the scientific program team.

To qualify for AGU member rates, you must have joined AGU or renewed your membership for 2021 by 3 November 2021. This does not apply to Indigenous member students and faculty enrolled in or working for North American tribal and territorial colleges and universities.

Written notifications must be emailed to [email protected]. Registration cancellation received by 8 November 2021 will receive complete refund. Cancellations received between 9 and 16 November will have a $50 USD processing fee deducted from their refund. No refunds will be issued for cancelled registrations or ticketed events after 16 November 2021.

In-person and online registrations are non-transferable from one attendee to another. Each attendee will have a unique registration account.

Attendees will have the opportunity to change their registration type from in-person to online (or vice versa). You will be required to pay the difference in the registration cost or will receive a refund of the difference. Please contact [email protected] for further assistance. The deadline to make this change is 7 December.

AGU does not sell meeting attendee or member contact information. It has been brought to our attention that some individuals and organizations have been contacted with offers of lists for purchase. These offers are not affiliated with AGU in any way and are unauthorized. We thank our exhibitors for reporting this issue to us. If you receive or know of an email containing such an offer, we ask that you please alert us by email.

AGU is committed to protecting the privacy of its members and we honor their right to make choices about what information they share. Read AGU's Privacy Policy.

High school students will be allowed to register for the hybrid (in-person and online) meeting. Each parent/legal guardian will be required to sign a online consent form granting permission for their child to participate in the hybrid meeting. These registrants will also be required to provide a scanned copy of their student identification card. These documents will need to be uploaded in the registration portal. A parent/or teacher must accompany the child(ren)/ward(s) at all times during their participation during the meeting.

Payment receipts for previous meetings can be requested by emailing the AGU Meetings Team.

AGU will accept credit card, check and wire transfer payments. To process group registration payments, contact the AGU Registration Center. The last day to submit payment via wire transfer or check is 1 December 2021.

AGU does not accept purchase orders for registration payment.

AGU will offer no-cost registration to 100 AGU members who are members of an Indigenous Community anywhere in the world, who would not otherwise be able to attend the AGU Meeting. The last day to submit your application is 13 October 2021. Each application will be reviewed and notifications will be sent by 28 October 2021. To begin your application, click here.

AGU will also offer no-cost Fall 2021 Meeting registration for AGU members for those attending or teaching at Tribal and Territorial Colleges and Universities. If you teach or attend a tribal college or university in North America, please use the registration portal to take advantage of the no-cost registration. Each person will be required to submit credentials verifying their enrollment or employment in the registration portal.
