A complete nomination package consists of the following:
A nomination letter that states how the nominee meets the selection criteria. It should include details about the outstanding scientific research and accomplishments of the nominee. Nominator’s signature, name, title, institution, and contact information are required. Letterhead is preferred.
The nominee’s curriculum vitae, that includes the candidate’s name, address, email, history of employment, degrees, research experience, honors, memberships, and service to the community (committee work, advisory boards, etc.).
A selected bibliography stating the total number and types of publications and the number published by AGU.
Two letters of support (separate from the nomination letter) with the supporter’s name, title, institution and contact information. Letterhead is preferred. We encourage letters from individuals not currently or recently associated with the candidate’s institution of graduate education or employment.
Up to three copies of the nominee’s published or pre-published manuscripts that demonstrate the nominee’s quality of work in the field of Earth and planetary surface processes.
2024 Review Timeline
- 17 January: Nomination period Opens
- 27 March: Nomination period Closes
- 22 April - 3 June: Selection committees review nominations
- 10 June: Section Award selection committees' recommendation reports are due
- 10 - 17 June: Section Presidents reviewing Section Award Committee recommendation reports
- 21 June: Deadline for Section Presidents to approve recommendations for the 2024 Section Award recipients
- TBD September: 2024 Section Awards recipients announced
