2024 AGU Elections
Board of Directors
Board candidates will compete for 6 open positions on the Board in this year’s election: President-elect, General Secretary, International Secretary, and three Directors. AGU’s rotation strategy is designed to retain about 50% of elected members each term to ensure leadership continuity. Continuing members for the 2025–2026 term include the current AGU President and the President-elect in their new positions, two Directors, one at-large Director, and the Executive Director/CEO (nonvoting).
This year, the Leadership Development / Governance Committee chose to experiment with ranked choice voting in the election of Directors (two candidates will be chosen from six) and International Secretary (one candidate will be chosen from three). The committee also chose to reserve a director position for the candidate not chosen to serve as president-elect, so that their talent can still support the Board. You can read more about these experiments on the Election FAQs page.
