Housing & Travel

The housing portal will open for booking in late September and will close 24 January 2024. OSM has partnered with over a dozen hotels to offer discounts within the block.

IMPORTANT: If you are contacted by any company other than Maritz Global Events offering housing, please note that these companies are not authorized to represent OSM nor do they have access to officially contracted Ocean Sciences Meeting 2024 room blocks or rates.

These unauthorized companies often don’t deliver on promises to customers. When customers arrive, reservations are non-existent, or the hotels are not conveniently located. Sometimes the rooms have been cancelled and hefty cancellation fees have been placed on the customer’s credit card. In addition, these companies’ practices make it more difficult for OSM to meet our room block commitments and expose OSM to penalties. If you have questions, contact OSM Housing Team.

OSM will not charge your credit card. OSM/Maritz Global Events will transfer your credit card information to the hotel approximately three weeks prior to the Ocean Sciences Meeting. The credit card provided at the time of booking will only be charged by the hotel if you cancel within 72 hours of arrival or do not arrive on your scheduled date.

Yes. A detailed confirmation is automatically emailed to you once your reservation has been made and all requested reservation nights are available. However, if one or more nights of your reservation cannot be confirmed at the time of booking, you will not immediately receive a confirmation. Maritz Global Events will work with the hotel on your behalf to secure the nights needed to confirm your entire reservation, and you will automatically receive a confirmation at that time.

There is a 72-hour cancellation notice required to avoid a penalty. If your reservation is cancelled less than 72 hours prior to your arrival, you will incur a one-night room and tax penalty from your hotel.

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is the closest airport to New Orleans and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. It was awarded the Best Airport in North America two years in a row by the Airports Council International. MSY provides service from more than 15 airlines, national and international, and over 50 nonstop connections.

New Orleans weather in February can be unpredictable so attendees are advised pack layers including a light jacket.  Average maximum temperatures in February range from 66°F/19°C to 47°F/9°C. The average rainfall is .55”/1.4 cm.
